Methylene blue (raw material, pure powder) was tested for heavy metals. A negligible amount of heavy metals was found. In the finished product, the percentage of heavy metals is even lower, as the product contains 3 g of methylene blue per 100 ml.

Methylene blue should be tested for heavy metal content, because in addition to pharmaceutical grade methylene blue, there is also industrial grade methylene blue on the market, and this contains a high proportion of heavy metals due to the way it is produced.

Storage and transportation

Product can be stored at room temperature away from direct sunlight

A 3% solution of methylene blue is close to its maximum saturation, which is about 4.3%. Methylene blue at this concentration can dry out on the pipette walls at lower temperatures to form greenish crystals.
