What is Ipamorelin?
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide with the sequence Aib–His–D-2-Nal–D-Phe–Lys–NH₂. It represents a selective growth hormone secretagogue analogue containing atypical amino acid residues (Aib and D-amino acids) that increase metabolic stability. This compound was developed as part of research on GHS-R1a receptor ligands (the ghrelin receptor). Due to its precisely defined structure and good solubility in aqueous environments, Ipamorelin has become a useful model for studying GHS receptor-dependent peptide signaling.
In experimental studies, Ipamorelin has been used to analyze mechanisms related to the activation of the GHS-R1a receptor, the modulation of G protein-dependent signaling pathways, and cellular responses in in vitro and in vivo models. Its effect on the expression of selected genes regulated by ghrelin pathways and on signaling processes in experimental systems has been described. Attention has been drawn to its selective interactions with G protein-coupled receptors and its indirect effect on signaling homeostasis under preclinical conditions.
Due to its clearly defined chemical structure and high reproducibility of observed biological effects in experimental models, Ipamorelin is used as a research tool in molecular biology, experimental endocrinology, and experimental pharmacology. In scientific literature, it is also utilized as a reference GHS-R1a receptor ligand for evaluating signaling processes and for validating analytical methods used in the study of short bioactive peptides.
